UPS DAP – Digital Access Program
This article will explain to you how the UPS DAP (Digital Access Program) works, who should use it and who should not.
First, you need to know that UPS DAP is an affordable shipping option that allows smaller businesses to ship all over the world with discontinued rates.
The UPS DAP packages have dynamic tracking that guarantees timely delivery, if your package does not show up on time you will get a refund.
The discounts apply for eligible packages.

The UPS DAP shares at most the same services as a standard UPS account, but it adds these benefits.
- The discounted rates are already preloaded and waiting for you.
- There are no volume minimums, so you can use it as much or as little as you like.
- Creating your account is easy!

Important
This program requires you to have your own EasyPost account outside of the one offered by ShipEdge.
If you have activated an EasyPost account with the Shipedge link you will not be eligible for the UPS DAP program.
With your own EasyPost account, Shipedge can not provide the discount offered in the implementation process.
If you sign up for the UPS DAP account you must provide Shipedge with the EasyPost API key and Carrier Account (ca_id).
This is pay-on-demand.
This means that while a traditional UPS uses a pay-on-scan process, that charges only if UPS picks up the package and scans the label, and then charges the account that is later paid at the end of the process.
The UPS DAP process will bill the EasyPost account at the time the label is requested. This means the charge is made wheater the label is used or not. This is the concept behind the term pay-on-demand.
Here comes the answer on who should use it and who should not.
The UPS DAP process is targeted at small businesses.
Those users who tend to use a return label are not recommended to use the UPS DAP service as they will be charged the label’s cost wheater they used it or not.
