What is the Harmonization System?

Harmonization (HTS Code) is the method used by international customs agencies for understanding what material is being shipped into their countries. If you ship products internationally you will need to provide the carrier such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL a 10 digit harmonization code that will describe what kind of product you are shipping. The carrier will then provide this code to customs when they bring the item across the border.

Uploading the HTScode in batch

Shipedge cannot provide you with the harmonization code, nor do we keep a list of available codes. We do provide a space for you to enter the code so that it gets sent along to the carrier when you ship internationally. This code is attached to the SKU information. It can be uploaded with the SKU information by putting it into the HTScode field in the csv file MASTE-Import_Inventory_Description.csv. Here is the MASTE-Import_Inventory_Description.csv. The Harmonization HTScode may be uploaded when the inventory is uploaded.

Manually adding the Harmonization code to an existing SKU

If an existing SKU does not already have the Harmonization code you will need to add it when the product is in the processed state before you print labels. Go to the Processing View, click the green + sign, and edit the HTS code.
